چکیده

A two-dimensional finite-difference lattice Boltzmann model for liquid–vapor systems is introduced and analyzed. Two different numerical schemes are used and compared in recovering equilibrium density and velocity profiles for a planar interface. We show that flux limiter techniques can be conveniently adopted to minimize spurious numerical effects and improve the numerical accuracy of the model. © 2006 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V. Reduction of Spurious Velocity in Finite Difference Lattice Boltzmann Models for Liquid - Vapor Systems

The origin of the spurious interface velocity in finite difference lattice Boltzmann models for liquid vapor systems is related to the first order upwind scheme used to compute the space derivatives in the evolution equations. A correction force term is introduced to eliminate the spurious velocity. The correction term helps to recover sharp interfaces and sets the phase diagram close to the on...

Finite-difference lattice Boltzmann model with flux limiters for liquid-vapor systems.

In this paper we apply a finite difference lattice Boltzmann model to study the phase separation in a two-dimensional liquid-vapor system. Spurious numerical effects in macroscopic equations are discussed and an appropriate numerical scheme involving flux limiter techniques is proposed to minimize them and guarantee a better numerical stability at very low viscosity. The phase separation kineti...

A lattice Boltzmann study of phase separation in liquid-vapor systems with gravity

Phase separation of a two-dimensional van derWaals fluid subject to a gravitational force is studied by numerical simulations based on lattice Boltzmannmethods (LBM) implemented with a finite difference scheme. A growth exponent α=1 is measured in the direction of the external force. PACS: 47.11.-j, 47.20.Hw, 05.70.Ln

Gas-liquid Relative Permeability Estimation in 2D Porous Media by Lattice Boltzmann Method: Low Viscosity Ratio 2D LBM Relative Permeability

This work is a primary achievement in studying the CO2 and N2–oil systems. To predict gas-liquid relative permeability curves, a Shan-Chen type multicomponent multiphase lattice Boltzmann model for two-phase flow through 2D porous media is developed. Periodic and bounce back boundary conditions are applied to the model with the Guo scheme for the external body force (i.e.,...

Finite Difference Lattice Boltzmann Model for Liquid Vapour Systems

Lattice Boltzmann (LB) models [1,2,3,4,5] provide an alternative to current methods in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Unlike conventional numerical techniques based on the discretization of the macroscopic fluid equations, LB models are based on the physics at the mesoscopic scale, while the macroscopic level phenomena are recovered from evolution equations which contain the force a F m = ...
